NYC School of Data 2025 - Volunteer Application

BetaNYC is looking for volunteers to help out at CityCamp NYC! 

CityCamp NYC is a one-day unconference for New Yorkers passionate about civic tech, open government, community design, and building a better city together.

An unconference is a participant-driven meeting format where attendees collaboratively create the agenda, lead sessions, and shape discussions centered on shared interests. Unlike traditional conferences with predetermined speakers and sessions, unconferences harness collective intelligence to address real community challenges and foster meaningful civic engagement.

As a volunteer, you play an important role in making sure that the event runs smoothly and everyone has fun. You spend one part of the day helping out and the other part of the day as a unconference attendee. Fill out this application if you are interested in working with our team (we're friendly!) to bring New Yorkers together to collaborate on civic challenges

Where: CUNY School of Law, 2 Ct Square W, Long Island City

When: Friday September 5 and/or Saturday September 6 (4+ hour shifts)

Who are we looking for? We're looking for people who are friendly; people who know when to follow and when to lead; people who like to solve problems; people who love producing great experiences for others; people who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and who understand it takes a village! We are passionate about civic tech, NYC, and inclusive community events— it would be great if you are too but it is not a prerequisite. Bring your experience or come to learn! We hope you use the experience to build connections and find a home in our community.
